Director's Message: I am confident that QEC will work hard to improve the quality of higher education being imparted in Agriculture University, Peshawar. We are fully committed to implement QAA policies here in our university by establishing a formal Quality Enhancement Cell. Our university is one of the 62 universities where this cell has been established by HEC. We strongly hold the concept of Quality Assurance in institutions of higher learning with enhanced levels of International compatibility through capacity building. |

Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) has been established in Agricultural University, Peshawar in accordance with the guidelines communicated by Higher Education Commission (HEC). The basic purpose of QEC is to maintain and further improve the quality of academic standards, enabling the graduates of our University to meet new global challenges in the field of education on national and international level.
This newly established QEC would also be responsible to vigorously pursue the process of self-assessment in various academic departments and institutes of this University.
Assessment is a systematic process of gathering, reviewing and using important quantitative and qualitative data and information from multiple and diverse sources about educational programs, for the purpose of improving student learning, and evaluating whether academic and learning standards are being met. The process culminates when assessment results are used to improve student learning. A successful assessment programme includes the following:
- Purpose identification
- Outcomes identification
- Measurements and evaluation design
- Data collection
- Analysis and evaluation
- Decision-making regarding actions to be taken
In order to improve and ensure high academic standards, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) requires universities in Pakistan to conduct periodic Self-Assessment for its academic programmes. The Self-Assessment procedure in Agricultural University, Peshawar started by formulation Programme Teams in all departments / institutes. The detailed mechanism of Self-Assessment procedure can be found in the Self-Assessment Manual (SAM). The assessment of the overall performance of each academic programme is carried out through a standardized set of Self-Assessment Proforma.
The department of Plant Breeding and Genetics (PBG) was chosen as Model Department for assessment of its academic programme. The process of Self-Assessment has been partially completed in PBG.
