Mr. Ishaq A. Mian Kakakhel, AUP Student and HEC Scholar pursuing his PhD studies at Environment Department, The University of York, UK, has been awarded Worldwide University Network (WUN) Research Mobility Programme Award-2009 by the WUN Steering Group, on the basis of academic excellence and quality research proposal.

The award covers travel and subsistence expenses up to a maximum of 2,500 Pounds.

Ishaq will represent Environment Department in order to make future collaborative projects. In this award, he will work alongside the Centre for Land Rehabilitation and Agricultural Sciences (CLRAS), University of Western Australia from March 2010 until May 2010.     

He will be working on “Soil carbon and nitrogen development in a reconstructed biodiverse” under the supervision of Prof. Mark Tibbett, Director CLARAS and Dr. Suman George.

Ishaq has successfully completed his three years of Ph.D. He has an excellent academic record and has published seven research publications in internationally reputed and high impact journals during his doctoral studies.

Ishaq was selected on two occasions for the British Soil Science Society, UK conference grants. He has also represented the Environment Department, University of York at Environment YES (Young Entrepreneurs Scheme) organized by the Natural Environment Research Council, UK.

“This WUN RMP visit will pay the role of bridge in future partnerships between The University of Western Australia. The project will encourage mobility and internationalism, exchange of scientific results and targets, development of research cooperation and long-term relationship building, “said Prof. Dave Refalli, Head, Environment Department.
