About Chairman:
Prof. Dr. Fida Mohammad Chairman in teaching department is appointed by the University Syndicate for a tenure of three years. Prof. Dr. Fida Mohammad has been acting as a Chairman, Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics since October, 2010. Dr. Mohammad was born on April 27, 1963 in a small village Adina of District Swabi: Dr. Mohammad has earned his Ph. D degree in wheat breeding from University of Idaho, USA in 1994. Dr. Mohammad has two wheat varieties on his credit as a solo-breeder. Dr. Mohammad has supervised 6 Ph.D. degree students and more than 30 M.Sc.(Hons) degree students in their thesis research and writing. Dr. Mohammad has more than 60 national and international publications to his credit. In addition to co-curricula activities, Dr. Mohammad is honoured to have been represented on University Syndicate as elected Member for three tenures of 3 years each. Dr. Mohammad is honoured to have been elected as President Agricultural University Teacher Association for two consecutive years. Dr. Mohammad is honoured to have been elected as President Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association (FAPUASA) for 2011-12. |

Research Projects: |
1. Successfully completed a competitive grant project on “Production of doubled haploids wheat with longer coleoptiles” at a total cost of Rs. 1.859 million (2003-2006).
2. INCO-DC Project. Participated as wheat breeder in multi disciplinary project (1998-2002) on "Assessment and development of salinity, sodicity and water logging tolerant wheat genotypes for India and Pakistan: Funds allocated": ~Rs. 6.0 million. |
Awards/Honors/Recognitions: |
1. Evolved a spring wheat cultivar "Ghaznavi-98" for irrigated areas, approved in the Provincial Seed Council Meeting, held on July 14, 1998.
2. Developed a spring wheat cultivar “JANBAZ” for irrigated areas, recommended by the technical committee in a meeting held at Tarnab on November 19, 2009 under the chairmanship of Director General Agricultural Research (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa).
3. Some advanced wheat lines are in advance testing for commercial release. |
