Directorate of Works

The Works Directorate is responsible for new constructions, and repairs/ maintenance of the already constructed buildings and roads throughout the campus of the NWFP Agricultural University and sometime of the neighboring areas, including the residences of faculty and staff of this University on the campus of the University of Peshawar.
At the time of merger of research system with the university, the Directorate of Works was also responsible for the said works of the whole research setup throughout the province.

The University currently comprise of the following areas

Scope of the Works Directorate:

	Look after and maintenance of the existing 13,30,865 sq. feet residential and non-residential buildings.
	Maintenance of high power and sophisticated electrical installations like twelve transformers connected with two sub-stations.
	Maintenance of Water supply system of the university, which consists of three tube wells, two overhead and two underground water reservoirs, kilometers long pipelines etc. These services are provided round the clock.
	Maintains a high quality underground sewerage system with conventional ? septic tank/soakage pit type and modern ? two each Lift Stations and Sewerage Treatment Plants (STP), sewerage facilities.
	Maintaining two types of telephone facilities i.e. direct NTC connections and 300 lines PABX telephone exchange. The PABX telephone exchange has been providing facilities both in the morning and 2nd shits.
	Maintenance of 12 Nos Roof top and more than hundred windows type room air conditioners.
	Maintained of generators for tube wells, telephone exchange and other important functionaries in case of electric shut downs.
	Maintenance of 13 Nos FTRs (heating system) in the newly constructed buildings.
	Maintenance of kilometers long roads (spread over colonies, offices, hostels and farm) leading to and fro residential and non-residential buildings including one main bridge and one pedestrian bridge on khuwar.
	Provision of hot water facilities through boiler plants and geysers for residential and non-residential buildings and cooking ranges in the residences.
	Assessment of houses/buildings for House Requisition/Subsidy and House Building Loans.
	Billing/recovery of Electric and Sui Gas from the different residential and non-residential consumers.
	Maintenance of different kinds and types of furniture of residential and non-residential buildings.
	Works Store: The Works Directorate is maintaining a Works Store under the supervision of the Maintenance Division. The division is responsible for purchase and issue of store items.
	Complaint Cell: A full fledge round the clock Complaint Cell is being maintained by the Works Directorate. All sorts of routine complaints are received here during the morning shift while the 2nd and 3rd shifts are being carried out emergency complaints.
	The Construction Division of the Directorate is involved in new construction works in the residential and non-residential buildings on campus.
Under the new buildings the Works Directorate is provided with some workshop facilities where the worker of the Directorate perform their works needed at the workshop.

The Works Directorate also had major part in planning and supervising the construction component of the TIPAN Project under which building worth 4,22,680.00 Sq. ft and related infrastructure were constructed.
