DAAD Alumni Life Science Conference
To establish a close network of young scientist who have completed their studies in Germany under the sponsorship of DAAD/HEC, DAAD, we are holding a three day DAAD alumni conference on biotech interventions for sustainable development. Biotechnology has a great potential for crop improvement, food production, addressing many of the health problems and poverty reduction. Recently a considerable number of scholars from Pakistan have completed their studies in Germany under fellowships of HEC/DAAD and DAAD. Majority of these young scientists have already been placed into different universities and research organizations. To fully utilize their potential and expertise there is strong need to identify priority research areas and coordinate their activities. The conference will provide a unique opportunity to bring together the alumni into a common professional platform to establish close acedemic and research contacts and explore the opportunities for long term future joint research. The conference will be of great help for the alumni to share their experiences, discuss their problems, and sugggest measures towards the solutions to these problems in the light of their experiences.
The conference will be held from 19-21 Sep. 2011 in Islamabad. The work of different participants will be presented either orally or in the form of posters. A total of 30 participants from all parts of the country are expected to participate in the conference. The research students who are working under the direct supervision of one of the DAAD alumni are also encouraged to present their work in the conference. The Institute of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering (IBGE), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Agricultural University Peshawar, Pakistan and the university system will assist in the management and organization of all the activities of the conference.
