Computerization & Network Enhancement Program (IT)

Information Technology is essential for the growth and development of a country. Cognizant of the fact, the Government of Pakistan has launched its IT policy to keep pace with the technologically developed countries. The present policies of the Government of Pakistan manifest that it is the right time for the Universities to penetrate into IT and e-government plans and help the Government of Pakistan and the Ministry of Science and Technology in their initiatives to encourage IT. Thus the NWFP Agricultural University plans to carry out computerization, & networking Programme to cope with the challenges of the 21st century.
The National IT policy is focusing on establishing academic network among universities of Pakistan for the exchange of shared research databases, digital libraries and enhancement of academic information. This computerization and networking Programme will be equally beneficial to the NWFP Agricultural University, Research System, which is part of this University, as well as to the Agricultural Extension System of the Province. It will help enhance agriculture education, agriculture research and agriculture extension/ outreach.

Primarily our objective is to develop infrastructure of e-offices in the AUP that includes local and wide area networks (LAN/WAN). The internet and intranet e-mail shall be used for inter office communication (necessary security, digital authentication and legal cover shall be provided to secure the validity of such communication).

To provide online service through web, portal would be developed for AUP. The primary purpose of this portal is to provide visibility of the services offered to the different sections/departments of AUP.

To construct/update a complete web site of AUP in Pakistan which will contain commonly required information for the students, faculty, researchers and staff. These information will relate to education policies, rules and regulations, scholarships, news and press releases regarding AUP, list of AUP research publications, list of all services provided to interest groups by AUP, job opportunities, release of new crop varieties, research and extension related news and messages and all official forms required by the public.
