Overseas PhD Scholarship Scheme
(Phase-1 Batch-5) under HEC funded project
Applications are invited for the award of PhD Scholarship under HEC Funded Project in the specified disciplines of:
- Agricultural Mechanization
- Water Management
- Agricultural Chemistry
- Food Science & Technology
- Extension Education & Communication
- Rural Sociology
- Horticulture
During Phase-1, Batch-5, the scholarships will be awarded for the year 2008 in the HEC recognized Universities of Technologically Advanced Countries (list available on the HEC web page www.hec.gov.pk).
BASIC ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
- Minimum 18 years of education in the relevant field of study.
- First divisions in the last degree as per requirement.
- Maximum one 2nd division and no 3rd division in entire academic career.
- Not less than 50% marks in entire academic career, as per HEC formula.
- Not less than 1.8 CGPA and 2.8 CGPA out of 4 and 5 respectively in entire academic career.
- Maximum age should be 35 years and relaxable to 40 years only for regular employees of the Public Sector University / DAIs and R&D institutions. The age will be calculated on the closing date of the application.
- Candidates already availing HEC or any other Scholarship(s) are not eligible.
- In case an awardee is NOT a regular Faculty member, he shall be hired on contract basis (having zero salary) for the period of scholarship. Awardees must serve the institution for at-least five years after completion of the studies.
- Minimum 50% marks (GAT) in the GRE test to qualify for short listing for the interview.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
- All scholarships will be awarded on open merit to the candidates.
- In-service candidates should apply though proper channel. Advance copies will be entertained, however in case of selection, NOC from the concerned organization must be provided along with consent letter. The NOC must clearly mention that the candidate will be relieved for the NWFP- AUP service after completion of PhD program.
- Only those applicants who have qualified the international GRE or GAT-GRE conducted by National Testing Services are eligible to apply. The GAT-GRE test conducted by the NTS (www.nts.org.pk) is being held on 06 April, 2008.
- All the selected candidates shall furnish a Bond as per University and HEC rules.
- If the selected candidates are not employed in NWFP-AUP they shall also furnish a Bond that they will report to the university after completion of their Degree and shall serve the University for five years or shall refund the amount to be determined by the NWFP AUP/ HEC.
- Bond is to be guaranteed by two permanent employees of the NWFP Agricultural University and witnessed by two permanent employees of the University.
