Department of Rural Sociology

Origin and Growth:

The Department of Rural Sociology was created by bifurcating the Department of Agricultural Economics & Rural Sociology on Mach 09, 2006 vide office order No. 60/S­1/ AUP dated 09/03/2006. The main objectives were to strengthen the existing academes . a Campus, particularly the Rural Sociology Sciences.

Rural Sociology as discipline was taught in Agriculture. However as a Department is need was felt since long. While activating the NWFP Agricultural University Ordinance1981 & following the national & international Agricultural University, by keeping the' needs & demands of the masses of NWFP in particular & Pakistan in general, it came into being forthwith with the following mandate.

	To start B. Sc (Hons) in Rural Sociology from Spring Semester 2007 the Department  have there own students B. Sc (Hons) in 2009 and shall enrolled students in M. Sc (Hons) Rural Sociology in Spring Semester 2010.
	To start Ph.D. in 2006.

Currently the Department is running the M. A. Rural Sociology programme on (SSEP) grounds.
